THE tale of the villagers who loved their shop so much they bought it when it was under threat of closure is a heart-warming reminder of the force for good community spirit can be.
Each chipped in about £50 to raise £7,600 to lease the building in Penhow and to buy stock.
A team of 50 volunteers, from all walks of life and all age groups are now staffing the shop on a rota basis.
Let’s hope that the initial buzz surrounding this extraordinary scheme continues.
