STEEL firm Corus today announced 400 job losses across the Uk - with 50 in south Wales.
The firm, which has sites in Llanwern, Wattsville and Port Talbot, is blaming the economic downturn and went into an immediate 90-day consultation with workers.
They hope to achieve the job cuts through voluntary redundancy.
Workers called the Argus today to say that 40 jobs were being lost at the firm's plant in Wattsville.
