THOUSANDS of people across Gwent will be paying their respects to Britain's war dead at services tomorrow and in the coming week. NATALIE CROCKETT lists services in your area.
TORFAEN: The following will all take place on Sunday, November 9. PONTNEWYDD 10.15am - Parade assembles 10.30am - Parade from Pontnewydd Royal British Legion Club, Station Road, Pontnewydd for wreath laying ceremony and service at the Cenotaph.
11am - Two-minute silence will be observed. The Mayor of Torfaen, Torfaen Councillors representing the Pontnewydd and Upper Cwmbran Wards and the Vice-Chairman of Cwmbran Community Council will be present and will lay wreaths.
11.30am - Service at St Hilda's Church conducted by Canon Roy Call 11.45am Wreath laying at Panteg Cemetery (Canon Roy Cale will officiate) Torfaen Councillors representing the Panteg Ward, together with Councillors of Pontypool Community Council, will be present and will lay wreaths.
CWMBRAN 10.15am - Parade assembles at Clomendy Road 10.30am -Parade moves off via Commercial Street, Victoria Street, to War Memorial Clock for prayer and laying of wreath. Parade moves off via Oldbury Road, Henllys Way to Cocker Avenue Park for a service and wreath laying ceremony. 11am - Two minuet silence will be observed.
11.15am - Parade moves off via Henllys Way, Cocker Avenue and Wesley Street to St Gabriel's Church. The Deputy Mayor of Torfaen, The Rt Hon Paul Murphy MA MP, the Chairman of Cwmbran Community Council and the Chairmen of Croesyceiliog and Llanyrafon, Henllys and Ponthir Community Councils will be present and will lay wreaths.

12pm - Parade from assembly point to Memorial Gates, Pontypool for service and wreath laying ceremony; return via Clarence Roundabout. The Mayor of Torfaen, the Rt Hon Paul Murphy MA MP, Lynne Neagle AM and the Chairman of Pontypool Community Council will be present and will lay wreaths. At a particular point in the Service of Remembrance, the Chairman of Pontypool Community Council will lay a wreath at the Civil Defence Memorial opposite Pontypool Park Memorial Gates.

1pm - The Mayor of Torfaen will lay a wreath at the Pontymoile Gates entrance to Pontypool Park (at the junction of Rockhill Road and Usk Road); Torfaen Councillors and Pontypool Community Councillors from the New Inn Ward will be present.
PONTNEWYNYDD 10.45am - Service and wreath laying at St Cadoc's Church, Trevethin.
Torfaen Councillors representing the Trevethin Ward, together with Councillors of Pontypool Community Council, will be present and will lay wreaths.
BLAENAVON 10.50am - Parade from the Top Car Park, marching via Broad Street and Ivor Street to the Cenotaph.
11am - Wreath laying and service at the Cenotaph, followed by a service in St Peter's Church. Members of Torfaen County Borough Councillor together with Lynne Neagle AM and the Mayor and Members of Blaenavon Town Council will also attend and will lay wreaths.
NEW INN 10am - Parade assembles at St Mary's Church Hall, The Highway, New Inn 10.10am - Parade moves off to St Mary's Church 10.30am - Church Service at St Mary's 11.20am -Parade returns to St Mary's Church Hall. Torfaen Councillors representing the New Inn Ward, together with Councillors representing Pontypool Community Council will be present and will lay wreaths.
ABERSYCHAN (GARN WEN MOUNTAIN) 11am - A short service of Remembrance will take place at the stone commemorating the Blenheim Bomber crash in 1940 on Garn Wen above Abersychan. There will be three walks to the stone:The Brecon Beacons Park Society will lead a 10 mile walk up to the stone for the short ceremony and on to the Goose and Cuckoo for soup. The walk will start at Goytre Wharf, Monmouthshire at 9.30am and return at 4.00pm.
The Abersychan and Garndiffaith History Group will lead a shorter walk from the car park over the bridge in Waterworks Lane, Abersychan, leaving at 9.45am, returning at 12.30pm.
Pontypool Ramblers Group will be leaving from Victoria Village Hall, Abersychan on the Blaenavon Road (A4043) at 9.45am. Mr Ken Clark will lead the ceremony and give a short talk on the history of the crash. A wreath will be laid and a two minute silence wil take place.
All are warmly welcomed to join one of the walks or to meet at the stone for the Service of Remembrance.
NEWPORT Sunday, November 9 10.15am -Contingents are to assemble outside the Kings Hotel, High Street.
Form up and march off 10.25am - Markers from contingents on Parade report to RSM. Contingents assemble on their Markers. Wreath bearers on right hand side of the Parade.
10.35am -On instruction from the Parade Commander the Parade marches from the Kings Hotel, High Street right onto Newport Bridge to Clarence Place. (Compliments to be paid on marching past guns).
AT THE CENOTAPH 10.25am - Newport Borough Brass Band plays appropriate Incidental Music until the Parade approaches. 10.40am - Spectators and Parade to be issued with Service Sheets to be collected from the Tax Office 10.42am - Parade arrives at Cenotaph and is positioned by RSM. The Lead Band of the Parade is to take up position outside Iceland and the drum beat will continue until all contingents are in position. The Ex Service Contingent and Standard Bearers peel off to the Right of the Cenotaph to take up their position, Wreath Bearers to be positioned by RSM.
10.43am to 10.54am - Newport Borough Brass Band plays appropriate incidental music.
10.45am - All those organisations not parading but participating should position themselves as directed by the Regimental Sergeant Major. RSM to stand Parade at ease.
10.54am - Parade Commander to stand Parade to attention.
10.56am - Mayoral Party and Clergy to leave Tax Office.
10.58am - Mayoral Party and Clergy to take up position on arrival at Cenotaph.
10.58am - Minister will say the words "Let us Remember Before God .... We will remember them".
Last Post is sounded. - following Last Post: Guns are fired on Newport Bridge to commence the two minute silence Guns are fired on Newport Bridge to end Silence. Reveille is sounded.
Wreaths are then to be laid, after which the Parade is to be stood 'at ease'.
Following this, a short Service will take place concluding with:The Blessing.
The Parade will be called to "attention".
11.16am -The National Anthems. 11.20am -The march past and dismissal.
3pm - Newport High School Remembrance Day Service at St Mark's Church, Newport.
6.20pm - An evening service of Remembrance, Mission to Seafarers, Chapel of St Peter, Newport Docks.
Saturday, November 15 10.30am - Merchant Navy Association Parade and Memorial Service at the Seafarers Memorial, Cardiff Road.
BLAENAU GWENT The following will all take place on Sunday, November 9.
ABERTILLERY 10.15am - The parade will assemble on the Foundry Bridge 10.30am - the parade will proceed through Church Street and Somerset Street to the War Memorial. 10.45am - Service of Remembrance. After the service, the parade will reform and march to the Salvation Army Citadel in Hill Street for the Royal British Legion’s Remembrance Service.
LLANHILLETH 10.30am -The parade will assemble at 10.30am at St. Mark’s Church and proceed to the Cenotaph at Llanhilleth Institute for the Service of Remembrance at 10.45am.
BRYNMAWR 10am - The parade will assemble outside the British Legion, Beaufort Street, at 10am 10.30am - proceed to the Market Hall, where the Service of Remembrance will commence at approximately 11am.
11.40am - Following the service, the ceremony of the laying of the wreaths will take place at the War Memorial then the parade will then return to the British Legion Club.
CWM 10.20am - The parade will assemble at the old Duffryn School site and proceed to the War Memorial for the Remembrance Service at 10.45am.
EBBW VALE 10.20am - The parade will assemble in Bethcar Street - outside Wetherspoon’s. 10.35am - proceed to the War Memorial for the Service of Remembrance at 10.45am. After the service the parade will reform and return to Market Street, where the salute will be taken by the appointed member of Blaenau Gwent Council.
6pm - An evening Service of Remembrance will also be held in St. David’s Church in Beaufort.
NANTYGLO AND BLAINA 1.55pm - A bus is available for people travelling from Blaina to Nantyglo for the start of the parade will leave Blaina Institute. 2.10pm - The parade will assemble at Garn Road, Nantyglo 2.25pm - proceed to the War Memorial at Central Park, via King Street, Queen Street and Upper High Street.
2.45pm - Service of Remembrance and wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial.
After the service, the parade will reform and march to Blaina, via Surgery Road, Cwmcelyn Road and into High Street, where the salute will be taken by the Mayor of Blaenau Gwent, Cllr Jenny Morgan, and the Mayor of Nantyglo and Blaina Town Council.
BOURNVILLE 3pm - Remembrance Service in the Community Hut followed by the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.
TREDEGAR 10am - The Service of Remembrance will be held at St. George’s Church. The parade will then assemble and proceed to the War Memorial at Bedwellty Park for the laying of wreaths at approximately 11am and a short service. MONMOUTHSHIRE COUNTY HALL, CWMBRAN - Sunday, November 9 - 11am - Remembrance service.
ABERGAVENNY 11am – Parade – Assembling in Nevill Street Abergavenny at 10.30 a.m.
Tuesday, November 11 11am - Abergavenny Castle laying of the wreath and firing of the rocket.
CALDICOT 11am – St. Mary’s Church, Church Road, Caldicot.
4pm - An inter-denominternational service will be held at the Celtic Cross, Caldicot. Mayor, Cllr David Evans, will lay a wreath at the Celtic Cross on behalf of the council and the town at the time of floral tributes.
CHEPSTOW 10am - Armistice parade will assemble at Welsh Street car park.
10.15am - The march will proceed onto Welsh Street, under the town arch and down High Street.
10.20am - Laying of the wreaths follows by a two minutes silence. The parade will tehn step-off via Middle street to St Mary's Church where the church service will take place.

11am – Cenotaph, Beaufort Square. Assembling in the town car park, Welsh Street at 10.00 a.m.
GILWERN/ LLANELLY HILL 3pm – St. Elli Parish Church, Abergavenny Road, Gilwern (Rev. Annette Francis) 3p.m -Llanelly Hill Action Group Armistice Service at the Memorial & Welfare Hall, Llanelly Hill MONMOUTH 11am - War Memorial and St. Mary’s Church. Assembling at the Shire Hall, Agincourt Square at 10.30 a.m. Two wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial & Castl.
USK 2.30pm – Remembrance Service at Royal British Legion, Usk.
CAERPHILLY Sunday, November 9 BLACKWOOD 10.45am - Parade along Pentwyn Avenue leading towards the town’s Cenotaph.
11am - Memorial Service at the town’s War Memorial.
NEWBRIDGE 10.20am - Members of Newbridge Royal British Legion will march from Parry’s Square to St Paul’s Church for a Remembrance Service.
11am - A wreath laying service will take place at the town’s War Memorial.
RISCA 10.30am - Parade will leave Rifleman’s Street, leading to Risca cenotaph St Mary’s Street, where a full service will be held. Crosskeys council member, Michael Gray will attend the Risca service.
Saturday, November 8 PONTLLANFRAITH 1.30pm - A service will be held at Pontllanfraith council offices.
