A BETTING shop worker was threatened with a knife during an armed robbery in Tredegar.
A young man went into the Ladbrokes Betting Shop at 6.45pm on Charles Street on Monday and demanded money.
He then threatened the assistant with a small knife and ran out of the shop with just a few coins.
Luckily no one was injured in the incident.
A spokesman for Ladbrokes said they are helping police with their enquiries and the safety of staff and customers is their main priority.
Gwent Police are appealing for people to come forward with information.
Detective Constable Chris Haire said: "We're appealing to members of the public to help us identify the offender and that includes friends and family members of the offender. Although he only got away with a little amount of cash the offence is still a serious one and none the less harrowing for the victims. If anyone has any information they need to get in touch."
The man is described as approximately five feet tall, wearing a black hooded jacket with a silver logo "D12" on the front and "The Dirty Dozen" written on the back of the jacket.
Anyone who has information about the incident or recognises the description is asked to call Gwent Police on 01633 838111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
