HOUSING developers were given the thumbs up by planners to build 47 new homes in Tredegar.
St James Parade submitted an application the Blaenau Gwent Council’s planning committee to build 16 four bedroom houses arranged in three terraces and an L shaped block of apartments of four one bedroom and 25 two bedroom flats.
The proposed layout shows terraces of housing fronting into Stable Lane opposite Tredegar Comprehensive school which links into the L shaped apartment block on the western side of the site.
The apartment block is predominantly three storeys adjacent to Bedwellty Park and the terrace housing, increasing to four and five storeys on the other side.
Gwent Wildlife Trust raised concerns in relation to the extent of hard surfacing around the development which can exacerbate local flooding.
A report into the application by council offers addresses the concern raising over flooding, but as yet no details of surface water drainage have been submitted to the council.
