ONE of the turning points of Welsh history was celebrated on its 600th anniversary at Usk Castle at the weekend.
A medieval fighting tournament staged by the Plantagenet Society was one of the many events which took place to commemorate the Battle of Pwll Melyn which took place in Usk in 1405.
Defeat in the battle was the watershed for Welsh prince Owain Glyndwr's glorious but ultimately failed rebellion against English rule.
The castle also hosted medieval dancing and archery.
