Some of the world's greatest surveillance aircraft are expected to touch down at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire this summer to take part in the world's largest military airshow.
Each July leading international display pilots, aerobatics teams and state-of-the-art aircraft from around the globe, arrive at the Royal International Air Tattoo offering people a unique opportunity to view, up close, a wide variety of aircraft and, in many cases, to meet their crews.
Traditionally the RAF turns out in force for this premier Airshow and this summer will be no different, with displays by the Royal Air Force Tornado F3 and GR4, Jaguar, Harrier, Tucano, C-130 Hercules plus the legendary Red Arrows. There will also be the first full display, at the Tattoo, of a Eurofighter Typhoon by an RAF pilot.
This July will see the Royal International Air Tattoo turn the spotlight on the secretive world of aerial surveillance by inviting specialist crews and hi-tech aerial platforms from around the world to demonstrate the wide variety of operational tasks undertaken.
On the ground, in addition to the vast static display of fascinating aircraft, there will be an exciting Robot Challenge, a Guinness World Records area where visitors can themselves become record-breakers plus simulator rides, a funfair, re-enactment groups and more than 300 trade stands. And as the thrilling eight-hour flying display draws to a close each day, the rousing sound of a Royal Air Force band will deliver the perfect ending to a wonderful day's entertainment.
The Royal International Air Tattoo is organised by The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises and takes place on July 16 and July 17 in support of RAF charities.
