The BBC's Shakespeare School Festival, having grown from a small organisation in Wales, is now one of the UK's largest national theatre festivals and is coming to The Riverfront, on Sunday, at 7pm.
Now in its sixth year, the Shakespeare School's Festival is a unique arts-education initiative enabling local secondary schools to perform one half-hour abridged script taken from Shakespeare - The Animated Tales...
As part of a night where the BBC will feature 100 theatres across the UK all presenting Shakespeare, BBC 1 Night of Shakespeare will facilitate 10,000 secondary school pupils from 400 schools across four regions of the UK to perform Shakespeare in professional theatres.
The Riverfront is proud to present four local schools participating in the festival, consisting of St Julian's School, Caldicot School, Llantarnam School and Tonyrefail Comprehensive School.
The young actors will be guided through an intense day of hard work with full technical and dress rehearsals to finally perform on Sunday.
Each school sits in on the three other performances in an atmosphere that is supportive, educational and fun!
With training provided by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the scripts from Britain's most famous dramatist and poet, the show promises to be a creative one which the whole family and literary fans will enjoy.
