THE current ballroom dancing craze had unexpected benefits for one Gwent school.
Thanks to a fundraising dance by Cwmbran Ballroom Dancing Club, pupils at Hollybush primary school can enjoy the use of £600 worth of TV and DVD equipment.
Club members go through their moves one evening a week at the school.
"Every year they raise money for a local charity and this time we decided the school should benefit," said club secretary Anne Mackey.
Tickets were sold for the dance and there was also a raffle, auction and treasure hunt. The cash funded a new large colour TV with a DVD/video player and two portable TVs with DVD/video.
Head teacher Karen Godwin said: "Their generous fundraising efforts have meant we have been able to buy some fantastic equipment for our school.
"Many teaching resources are being produced on DVD so our pupils will benefit by being able to watch them in their classroom. I would like to thank the dancers for taking part and everyone who went along to enjoy the evening."
