STUDENTS enjoyed a brush with the spotlight at an event designed to showcase their talents.
A catwalk costume show was staged for parents, employers and other guests at Coleg Gwent's City of Newport campus in Nash Road.
More than 120 hairdressing and beauty students took part in this first ever competition in front of an expert panel of judges including champion hair stylist and salon owner Michael Constantinou; experienced hairdresser and former lecturer Marlene Griffiths and Lisa Hooper, of the Celtic Manor Resort.
Hairdressing students were given three themes to work on, depending on the level of qualification they studied - styling through the ages, disco and creative long hair - while beauty therapy students were inspired by make-up through the ages and flowers.
Trophies were sponsored by Matrix and costumes supplied by Script to Screen Costumes of Cardiff.
