AN Argus advert reunited a missing parrot with its owner 10 days after it went missing.
Newport parrot breeder Tracy-Ann Griffiths lost two tiny parrots when they flew out of a window on June 14. The birds were chased from her garden by a flock of starlings and Mrs Griffiths was convinced both had been killed.
But after one was returned to her, she is now hoping the second bird survived.
The parrots - one blue, one green - were six-week-old hand-reared celestial parrots. Celestial parrots are the smallest parrots in the world, at just six-inches high.
Mrs Griffiths, from St Julians, said: "The birds had just started eating for themselves after being fed using a syringe.
"Hand-reared birds are used to humans and not afraid of them. I'm just hoping somebody has found the blue bird in their garden and is keeping it as a pet."
Mrs Griffiths was reunited with the green parrot by former Olympic shot-putter Vinessa Head who found the bird, which she then thought was a love bird, in her garden two streets away in St Julians. Ms Head put an advert in the Argus on June 23.
She said: "It followed me into the house and was so friendly I knew it was a lost pet. I am even thinking of buying one."
Mrs Griffiths is appealing to anyone in the St Julians area who may have found the small blue bird or seen it to contact her on Newport 01633 667609.
