NEWPORT leisure centre re-opened its pool following an £800,000 refurbishment of its changing-rooms.
The pool at the Newport Centre closed in February.
Mayor of Newport, Councillor Ken Critchley, re-opened the pool and changing village yesterday. Pupils from St Woolos Primary were at the opening to have a first swim.
The makeover was the first in the centre's 20-year history, and features unisex and family changing cubicles, and baby-changing areas. The centre is now more accessible for disabled people.
Councillor Ron Jones, member for culture and recreation, said: "This excellent work has brought the changing-rooms up to date, ensuring that Newport Centre remains our flagship leisure facility."
