A SPONSORED walk on Saturday raised an estimated £2,000 for a charity helping a Gwent child with a rare genetic condition.
Seven-year-old Hannah Rosser was born with EB - epidermolysis bullosa - a debilitating illness where skin blisters if touched. Sufferers are known as Butterfly Children because their skin is as sensitive as the wings of a butterfly.
Hannah, from Coed Eva, Cwmbran, amazed other walkers by completing the five-mile walk from Pontypool to Cwmbran Old Town. She was given a huge cheer when she reached the end of the trek.
More than 50 people took part in the walk to raise money for the charity DebRA, which researches treatments for EB.
Her mother Alison Rosser said: "I'm very grateful to everyone who took part. It was amazing to see everyone turning out to support us."
Although her condition means her skin must be wrapped in bandages to protect it, Hannah does not let this stop her enjoying life.
Mrs Rosser said: "We are all so proud of Hannah.
"She did really well and we were astonished she managed to walk the whole way. Nobody was expecting her to."
