PIONEERING American singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega returns to St David's Hall on Wednesday, June 29 (8pm) with her band as part of her current UK tour.
In the early 1980s Suzanne emerged from the same Greenwich Village folk scene that had launched Bob Dylan and Joan Baez some 20 years earlier.
Although her work borrowed much from folk's tradition of storytelling through song, her gentle yet powerfully political acoustic pop brought singles such as Marlene On The Wall, Luka and the hugely successful Solitude Standing to a global audience.
In 1990 her work hit the charts again when the UK-based rap duo DNA released a remix of the a cappella song Tom's Diner, which charted worldwide.
She has inspired a whole generation of musicians such as Beth Orton and Alanis Morrisette with her beautiful songs and hauntingly fragile vocals.
Tickets for the concert are priced at £17.50. Call the St David's Hall Box Office on 029 2087 8444 or book online - www.stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk.
