DAIHATSU is targeting driving schools with its manoeuvrable new Sirion supermini, offering free 'He-Man' dual controls worth £400. The Japanese compact car specialist believes the new Sirion is ideal for learner drivers thanks to its tight 9.4 metre kerb-to-kerb turning circle, which beats all key rivals such as the Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta and Renault Clio. In addition, the new Sirion offers excellent visibility, a height-adjustable steering wheel and height-adjustable driver's seat, on all models involved in the promotion, together with electrically adjustable door mirrors.
And, in order to keep both instructors and pupils cool, air-conditioning is standard. Meanwhile, driver, passenger and side airbags add to the impressive safety tally which already includes anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution. The free dual controls are available on every model except the Sirion 1.0S which means instructors can choose between the 1.0-litre SE at £7,695 on-the-road or various 1.3-litre versions which start at £7,795 on-the-road for the 1.3S.
All Sirions offer a three-year unlimited mileage warranty with roadside assistance plus an eight-year anti-perforation warranty, while fuel economy is outstanding at 64.2mpg on the Extra Urban Cycling for the 1.0SE with ultra-low emissions of 118g/km.
