TRAVELLING to the Waterloo Inn at Nash was quite a journey but after directions from the nearby sailing club we made our way - along with another car behind who had also made the same mistake.
For a Friday night the pub wasn't too full but there was a friendly, warm atmosphere.
We were seated at a table in the restaurant section and deliberated over the extensive menu of starters, steaks, poultry and vegetarian courses. For starters my partner chose mussels in a white wine sauce, a mountain of them for £3.95, which he said were definitely worth it.
I chose garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce on a giant crouton at £2.95. Both filled the plates and were more than enough.
For main course my partner went for surf and turf with a creamy herb and tomato sauce which appeared smaller than he expected but tasty and filling at £12.50.
I chose the chicken, ham and mushroom pie with a puffed pastry top. The pastry was puffed to perfection and I struggled to finish half of the delicious dish, priced at £6.25.
The meals were excellently cooked and the setting was equally as pleasing but in the pub you could hear people belting out karaoke favourites.
After filling meals neither of us could manage a dessert. With drinks and a side order of garlic bread the meal came to a reasonable £36.20. Hannah Mlatem
