IN her presentation Pentwyn campaigner Jean Church told the council the consultation process was "severely flawed".
She said: "This decision is reckless, unfounded, irresponsible and incomprehensible."
She said the school was chosen by the Assembly as a model of good teaching practice and pupils were happy.
Councillor John Marshall, who lived in Pentwyn for many years, said: "If that school closes it will rip the heart out of that community because there's nothing else up there. The community will be absolutely devastated."
Following the meeting Ms Church said the decision to close the school was "a disgrace". "If anyone, teacher, child or parent, feels valued by today's debate I would like to meet them," she added.
