PAULINE Morgan's dying wish was that her beloved dogs should be found a home together after her death.
Her neighbour, Ros Evans, is now on a mission to fulfil the promise she made to her friend, who died of kidney failure, aged 50, last week.
Sasha, a black border collie, and Rosie, a medium-sized, black and white terrier, are inseparable and are pining so much for Pauline that they have stopped eating.
Ros, who lives in Windmill Square, Commercial Road, Newport, is anxious to find a loving home for the pair before the weekend, when the keys to Pauline's flat must be handed over to the landlord. The dogs have been staying in their familiar home at night, and spending the days with Ros.
She said: "Pauline had always been quite ill and I would take the dogs out three times a week when she was having her dialysis. "She said that if anything ever happened to her, I should find them a home together. If not, she said I should have them put to sleep, but I cannot do that.
"They would die of broken hearts if they were separated. It was her wish and I feel very strongly about it.
"They were like her children. She never married and never wanted children because she loved her dogs - they were her life.
"Sasha and Rosie are two lovely dogs. They are about eight or nine years old, they are spayed and all their injections are up to date. They are obedient and very loving .
"I cannot have them because I am a pensioner and I cannot afford to feed them, and also I have got cats."
Anyone who can offer them a home should contact Ros on 01633 243525.
