ON TUESDAY 24 May, Honda's ASIMO robot performed a double act with HRH Prince Andrew the Duke of York to open one of the company's flagship dealers Lings of Lowestoft. ASIMO presented the scissors to cut the ribbon and officially unveil the European brand centre, which sells the entire Honda range - cars, bikes, ATVs, lawnmowers and power equipment.
While ASIMO is not yet for sale, customers then had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with Honda's vast and diverse product range whilst local school children took the opportunity to be entertained by the world's most advanced humanoid robot. ASIMO appeared in four performances throughout the afternoon demonstrating how exciting and relevant science is when people really apply themselves.
Honda is committed to social activity with a philosophy to "foster a spirited and dynamic people and society for the next generation". Towards this goal, Honda has been promoting utilisation of ASIMO in programmes designed for young students.
