WALES will go into their Test against the USA in Hartford tomorrow still smarting from British Lions coach Sir Clive Woodward's snub of lock Brent Cockbain.
Woodward called up England's Simon Shaw as a replacement for injured Irish lock Malcolm O'Kelly in New Zealand instead of the Wales Grand Slam star even though Kay didn't play in the Six Nations.
"Once again it's a case of Clive picking players he has coached before," said Wales team manager Alan Phillips.
"Brent has played really well for us and we are disappointed because we thought he was one of the original certainties for the tour party."
However Phillips said the Lions tour hadn't really started and further injuries could yet mean Cockbain being called up.
Meanwhile the USA have made four changes to the side which beat Romania for their match with Wales and will be led by Cardiff Blues flanker Kort Schubert.
USA: Francois Viljoen, Mike Palefau, Paul Emerick, Albert Tuipulotu, David Fee, Mike Hercus, Doug Rowe, Mike MacDonald, Matt Wyatt, Chris Osentowski, Alec Parker, Brian Surgener, Andrew Ryland, Kort Schubert, Todd Clever. Replacements: Mark Griffin, Mike French, Mike Mangan, Tony Petruxella, Peter Galicz, Salesi Sika, Matt Sherman.
