FIVE people, including a 78-year-old man, were taken to hospital after a two-car head-on collision in Tredegar yesterday afternoon.
Police, ambulance crews and firefighters attended the scene in Morgan Street at around 2.20pm.
Two people were removed from the wreckage by fire crews.
Two of the victims were believed to have quite serious injuries and all five, who live locally, were taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
The road was closed for more than four hours following the collision between the Rover 416 and a Peugeot 406.
