The Pacifier (PG) HH Vin Diesel, Brittany Snow and Lauren Graham IT is Mrs Doubtfire meets Kindergarten Cop in this lame movie with the star of xXx Vin Diesel.

In The Pacifier he plays Navy SEAL Shane Wolfe assigned to protect five children following the death of their father, an eminent scientist who may have hidden top-secret material in the family home.

While the children's mother is away, Wolfe decides to bring some tough military discipline into the lives of the unruly rabble of youngsters.

For a man used to dodging bullets his greatest challenges are now the changing of smelly nappies and tackling stroppy teenagers.

The film makes comparisons to The Sound Of Music but there are precious few with Diesel certainly showing he is no Julie Andrews.

To be fair he is not really helped out by the material, or rather lack of it, on offer.

While there are flashes of entertainment there are precious few laughs and on the whole The Pacifier fails to deliver. Iwan Davies
