IMPROVEMENTS to a Newport school are to get under way thanks to a cash windfall.
A race night organised by Kerry Griffiths raised £505 for the parent- teacher association (PTA).
And now Ms Griffiths bosses at Barclays Bank have matched the money under the employee pound-for- pound scheme.
The PTA will use the money to carry out further improvements to the outside of the school buildings.
Mount Pleasant School has already benefited from Ms Griffiths' fundraising, which led to the creation of an outside soft play area for reception class pupils.
Ms Griffiths, who works at the Newport branch of Barclays, said: "I am delighted that myself and Barclays can work with the local community to achieve something which we hope will make a real and lasting difference."
Barclays' employee pound-for-pound scheme works through a fund set up to match money raised for community projects by workers.
