TWO Newbridge women successfully completed a sponsored walk across the Old Severn Bridge on Sunday.
Keri Lane and Teresa Cleaton joined more than 200 volunteers in the five-mile walk.
The pair were undertaking their first sponsored walk to help raise funds for Gwent-based charity St David's Foundation Hospice Care.
And between them they raised £432.50 for the charity, which provides free specialist care to more than 2,000 people with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Mrs Lane, 47, told the Argus that she and Mrs Cleaton, who is 45, had begun walking to keep fit.
"Then we saw a notice for this walk and decided it would be a challenge," she said.
She added that they had not found the walk difficult, following their walks around the hilly Newbridge area. They walked up to five times a week in preparation for the sponsored event.
The charity is hoping that around £5,000 wil be raised.
