WBO super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe doubts a potential unification fight with Jeff Lacy would be the career-defining bout he has envisaged.
Promoter Frank Warren looks set to put the two fighters in the same ring later this year should Lacy win his next bout against Robin Reid.
Calzaghe, unbeaten in all of his 39 fights, said there was nothing to fear.
"To be honest I don't think Lacy is a great fighter and I see myself beating him comfortably. "I am the champion and my record speaks for itself. I am not sure whether Lacy will be my career-defining fight but he is one of the best in his division."
The 32-year-old Welshman keeps pondering a move up to light-heavyweight, citing Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson as more interesting opponents.
Calzaghe strolled past Germany's Mario Veit on Saturday, flooring the mandatory challenger with a big southpaw left at the end of the fifth and then again in the sixth.
He was so dominant he barely allowed the partisan home crowd of 3,500 fans into the fight.
"I thrive from the atmosphere even if it is negative towards me but I didn't feel much of it this time," Calzaghe said after his 16th-successive title defence. "Usually the louder it is, the better for me."
Meanwhile, trainer Enzo Calzaghe. Joe's father, has vowed his son "will be the legend he is supposed to be".
"The German promoter just came to me and said 'There's only one Joe Calzaghe"', said the coach.
"Mario Veit came to me and said I can win this but not if Joe is right. Joe made a perfect fight. He sniffed the kill and there was no way Veit could escape. You are gifted to be born with that."
The trainer-father was relieved to see his son bouncing back from a string of personal problems. The southpaw was knocked down for only the second time in his career against Kabary Salem last October, blaming a bitter divorce battle with his wife Mandy for the mental let-down.
Calzaghe used an almost seven-month ring break to get his act together.
"The difference is about humanity," added his father. "Everybody is human, everybody feels, weeps and everybody has sentiments. Joe was crazed with his divorce and intimate things.
"But forget that - that was the real Joe Calzaghe on Saturday."
Experts agree there is almost nothing that can get into the Welshman's way should his focus be right.
"You better ask Lacy how he fancies his chances against Joe," said Calzaghe senior. "I know the result against him.
"It will be the same as against every fighter in this division."
