DANISH ace Mads Kornel-iussen returns to action for Newport Wasps in their Premier Trophy fixture at King's Lynn tonight after a spectacular crash last time out.
The young rider was fortunate to escape with minor facial and arm injuries in a last-heat accident in the Wasps' 55-36 win over Somerset last Sunday week.
The accident happened when Korneliussen was felled by Craig Watson's bike as the riders, joint top points scorers with eleven in the match, were leaving turn two.
His return means the Wasps are at full strength as they bid to beat the bad weather which has plagued their Trophy campaign and improve on their two wins from six encounters to date. The King's Lynn fixture is a rearranged one after rain put paid to the original fixture while bad weather also put paid to previous fixtures away to Somerset, Exeter and the Isle of Wight.
King's Lynn are still without the injured Oliver Allen and will use a guest as replacement, not known at the time of writing, while they will also include Newport asset Ashley Jones.
The Wasps have sometimes struggled at Kings Lynn which has a very fast track and requires determined riding to negotiate.
"You have to attack it. Fortune favours the brave," said Newport promoter Tim Stone. "When you are riding there just once or twice a year it can be difficult to get dialled into.
"But we fancied our chances when we were originally due to go there and we still think we can do the job."
Watson will be confident of doing well having won the Champions Chase KO tournament for the Premier League's top riders there last season.
Newport: M Coles, K Lund, M Korneliussen, N Collins, C Watson, T Atkin, K Ezergailis.
The Wasps are in league action at Workington on Saturday before a double header against Stoke at the Hayley Stadium on Sunday.
l Newport were today still waiting to hear the result of an x-ray examination on Mavericks rider Scott Pegler, who injured an ankle in heat eleven of their 50-40 defeat away to Rye House Raiders on Monday.
Billy Legg also damaged an ankle in the same event, though initially it was feared he had broken a leg.
l Cwmbran rider Tom Brown scored his second 15-points maximum for Weymouth this week against Wimbledon in the Conference Trophy.
His first maximum of the season also came against Wimbledon, a Conference team which had been interested in signing the Stoke asset.
Brown's next Weymouth outing is against Boston on May 12.
