Stand-in David Harrison took three for 25 to hand Glamorgan their first win of the season against Nottinghamshire Outlaws in totesport League Division One.

Harrison was a late replacement for Simon Jones, out with a back injury, but made sure the England man was not missed as he destroyed the Outlaws' top order on the way to a four-run victory in a match reduced to 38 overs-a-side.

Overseas batsman David Hussey made 68 and Chris Read 47 to give Notts a chance, but when they fell late on the game was up as rain slowed proceedings.

After Stephen Fleming was caught off the fourth ball of the Notts innings, Harrison sent Jason Gallian, Graeme Swann and Russell Warren back to the pavilion in quick succession.

That left the Outlaws reeling at 52 for four, before a partnership of 99 between Hussey and Read briefly gave them hope, as the pair chipped away at the adjusted target of 222 with some big hits square of the wicket.

But Read, Mark Ealham and Aussie Hussey fell in successive overs and although Samit Patel hit two sixes in the final over, his 40 not out was not enough.

Glamorgan started slowly with the bat after winning the toss, as opener Ian Thomas was caught behind by wicketkeeper Read off Greg Smith, but Robert Croft and Alex Wharf accelerated the run-rate with some strong hitting.

Dragons skipper Croft survived one chance when he was dropped by David Hussey off Ryan Sidebottom but the left-armer eventually got his man lbw for 42.

And Hussey then made up for his error by running out Wharf for 39 with a direct hit to leave the visitors 129-3. Heavy rain forced the players off for an hour and reduced the game to 38 overs a side and although Matthew Elliott got off the mark by driving Gareth Clough for four, Powell was bowled in the same over for 38. Elliott and David Hemp went on the attack and added 75 in the last eight overs as Glamorgan closed on 204 for four.
