The brand new eight-round Wulfsport British Sidecar Speedway Championship, also receiving assistance from Wightlink Car Ferries, gets under way at the beginning of next month with the staging of the first round at Newport's Hayley Stadium on May 1 at 2.30pm.
Six tracks will stage rounds that will span the season and will involve the top twenty crews in the the country in this fast-growing branch of shale racing involving the 1000cc three-wheeled monsters.
And the series will reach its conclusion on the Isle of Wight in October where double points will be available to all competitors.
And the massive incentive for those crews taking part in the series is that, at the very least, the top eight finishers in the overall standings will have their names put forward to compete in the inaugural F.I.M. World Sidecar Speedway Championship to be held in Great Britain in August 2006.
Dates for the series are as follows: 1. Newport - May 1 at 2.30pm; 2. Swindon - May 15 at 6pm; King's Lynn - May 21 at 7.30pm; Stoke - June 19 at 6pm; Somerset - August 12 at 7.30pm; Isle of Wight - August 18 at 7.30pm; Swindon - October 2 at 6pm; Isle of Wight (Final round for double points) - October 4 at 7.30pm.
Looking ahead to the series, Isle of Wight co-promoter Martin Newnham, who'll be competing himself, said: "With the incentive of places being up for grabs in next year's first ever world championship, it promises to be highly competitive from start to finish."
