LETS go out and get the job done.

That's the message from Newport County manager John Cornforth, pictured, ahead of tomorrow's relegation knee-trembler against Maidenhead at Spytty Park (kick-off 3pm).

County's fate is still in their own hands as a victory or a draw would secure Nationwide South status, but defeat, coupled with a Carshalton win at Eastbourne, could see them tumble through the relegation trapdoor.

A Carshalton defeat, though, would make tomorrow's Spytty Park fixture meaningless. "It is all in our own hands and I want the lads to go out and get the job done," Cornforth said. "We are fortunate to have a home game and there should be a big crowd there getting behind us."

He added: "We have to assume that Carshalton will win and have to go for the win ourselves, but it could obviously be tight as Maiden-head are in the same boat."

County will be preparing for the match in thorough fashion, with the entire squad holed up overnight in a city hotel to remove all other distractions and Cornforth admits that on the day he will be receiving regular updates from the Carshalton match via mobile phone.

"I am hoping to have someone there giving us minute-by-minute information because anything can happen and the way that one is going could obviously reflect in the way we play during the game," he said. "But at least we know that if we don't lose, we are all right."

County can welcome back big name players Jason Bowen and Darren Jones, who sat out Wednesday's Gwent Senior Cup victory over Caldicot, but midfielders Antonio Corbisiero and Ashley Williams are both injured.

After the Caldicot win, Cornforth was ready to include youngster Kris Leek in tomorrow's first team squad but a thigh injury looks to have ruled the midfielder out.

"Kris was the best player on the pitch in the first half," Cornforth said. "I was going to include him but unfortunately he has picked up a thigh strain. But he's a player I will be expecting to challenge for a first team spot next season."

The return of Darren Jones will allow Cortez Belle to return to the front line after playing centre back in Jones' absence in the 2-2 draw at Lewes last weekend.
