A PEDESTRIAN died after a collision with a car in Monmouthshire last night, and police today revealed that they were at the scene.
The fatal incident happened on the A466 between Monmouth and Redbrook at 10.30pm.
A 60-year-old man, from the Wyesham area, was pronounced dead on arrival at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
The driver of the vehicle was unhurt.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police told the Argus police officers were present at the time of the incident, and the matter has now been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Police say the officers were responding to reports of a man wandering along the carriageway when the incident happened.
A spokesman for the IPCC said: "We were notified of an incident at 2.30am this morning.
"One of our investigators will be going to Gwent to assess what has happened."
