VOLVO'S virtual golf club (www.volvocars.co.uk/golfclub) is offering all amateur golfers in the UK the chance to play its new Volvo Fantasy Golf game, or to sign up to actually play some of the most famous championship golf courses in the country in the imminent Volvo Golf Club Series.
Volvo Fantasy Golf is free to play by visiting www.volvocars.co.uk/golfclub, and offers one lucky winner a week's holiday for two in a golf and spa resort in Mauritius, plus a two-day UK golf break for the runner-up, or a 'four ball' at Wentworth for whoever comes third, as well as monthly prizes for the best team managers.
The fantasy game is based on 26 European Tour and key golf events this summer, with some practice rounds available until the game starts for real with the Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters on May 12, 2005. Players can choose five of the current top European Tour golfers or pick a lucky dip team. This year's Volvo Golf Club Series starts on May 12 and takes place at ten top UK golf courses across the UK until September 2.
The competition is open to all amateur golfers (not just Volvo owners) who join the virtual Volvo Golf Club and offers all competitors the experience of treading the same famous fairways that have seen some of the most exciting exploits in golfing history. The winner and runner-up from each event qualify for an expenses-paid trip to the national final at Wentworth on October 12-13, plus the ultimate prospect of playing in the World Final at Sotogrande, near Valderrama in Spain, on October 26-30.
