NEWPORT Gwent Dragons flanker Jamie Ringer has been cited by Connacht for a head butt during last Saturday's Celtic League clash at Rodney Parade, writes Robin Davey.
The case will be heard by a Welsh Rugby Union disciplinary panel tonight and if Ringer is found guilty he will miss the Celtic Cup quarter-final against Llanelli Scarlets a week tomorrow and possibly the semi-final as well a week later if the Dragons get through.
Ringer is currently on the injured list anyway after damaging his hip when he collided heavily with an upright near the end of the Connacht match.
Meanwhile, the coaching situation should be resolved at the end of the month once Paul Turner's commitments with Harlequins have been resolved.
They are stuck in a relegation battle at the foot of the Zurich Premiership table and have two matches remaining on April 26 and 30.
Once that situation has been sorted Turner is expected to be officially named as new Dragons coach to bring Welsh rugby's worst kept secret out into the open.
Turner is a former Newport and Newbridge captain who is relishing a return to his native Gwent in charge of the Dragons, though one or two issues still need to be resolved.
Turner's arrival would provide the Dragons with a much needed boost after weeks of negativity surrounding the departure of present coach Chris Anderson and the decision of benefactor Tony Brown to finish.
The name of Phil Davies, the former Wales captain and director of rugby at Powergen Cup winners Leeds, can be discounted. In fact, he was never in the running for the job which has always been going to Turner assuming one or two matters could be sorted.
And scrum half Gareth Cooper, linked with a move to Gloucester, is another complete non-starter. He has another two years on his contract with the Dragons, is happy with the region and has no intention of moving anywhere.
The Wales squad to tour North America this summer will be named on May 6. Coach Mike Ruddock will release the Cardiff Blues players in the party to play in their Heineken Cup play-off against the third ranked Italian team on May 29, a week before Wales' first game against America.
