Wrexham's Camera leapt up the public awareness-ometer when they opened the show at the Tsunami benefit concert in the Millennium Stadium.
Having released just one single, the quiet pop band were thrust in front of 61,000 people, plus millions of others glued to their TV sets.
Like Status Quo at Live Aid, they wowed the assembled 'small town' present and turned a whole new generation on to their sound.
Some had already heard their debut single, Hurt, which last year was playlisted on XFM.
On BBC 6Music Phil Jupitus made it his single of the week.
This month single number two, There's No Way, is out on Welsh label My Kung Fu.
It's part of what will become a string of singles from the band in the run-up to the release of their debut album in the autumn.
There's No Way sounds like a Welsh Nick Drake with some soft, picked electric guitar plus whispered vocals.
It is accompanied by a video which is played on heavy rotation on MTV and which has improved the band's prospects.
* Camera, John Barnes, Sweet Baboo, Seneca, and My Kung Fu DJs play Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff, on Tuesday, April 5, from 8pm to 11.30pm. Tickets are £5. Dial 02920 232199
