RYAN Giggs was left frustrated last night as once again Wales failed to find the net against Austria despite creating an abundance of chances.

Wales were eventually caught by a sucker punch when goalkeeper Danny Coyne allowed a ball to slip through his legs and Giggs himself had another couple of opportunities that he failed to convert.

"It is disappointing," skipper Giggs said. "Our performance did not deserve that result (1-0).

"We feel we played well enough to get the right result but lost it at the end.

"We have got to put our chances away. In both games we have had chances at 0-0 and not put them away and that has been the difference between the two sides."

Giggs is positive about the future and he believes that some of the football on show last night was out of the top drawer.

"Some of our play was brilliant," the Manchester United star said.

"What we wanted was to improve on Saturday and we have done that with this performance, but unfortunately not with the result.

"It is tough because we go away not for four or five months and it is tough because the lads have put everything into the two games but have not got what we deserved."

It was a mixed night for Newport-born defender James Collins.

The Cardiff centre back was impressive before having to come off after injuring his knee making a last-gasp tackle.

"It is nice to be involved in any Wales game and any time I get a chance I go out to do my best and hopefully I did that ," said Collins.

"I have been struggling with my knee and I got a kick after making a block.

"At the end of the day I have to think about Saturday (for Cardiff City, who are at home to Plymouth in the Championship).

"We are disappointed because we had some good chances, especially in the first half.

"We could have been a couple up at half-time but we played some nice stuff and have something to build on."
