A WEEK after a Gwent man went missing, police are still no closer to finding him.

Mark Shaw, 26, has not been seen since leaving his home in Raglan, last Tuesday.

In the early hours of the following day his black Ford KA was found in the car park of Whitesands beach in St David's, Pembrokeshire.

So far, searches involving coastguards, mountain rescue teams and an RAF helicopter have failed to find him.

Posters and flyers carrying Mark's picture, issued in the St David's area, have also failed to elicit information.

Police say his disappearance is "totally out of character" and they are becoming increasingly concerned for his well-being.

A force spokeswoman said: "His parents last saw him at approximately 12pm on Monday, March 21, when they left the family home for an overnight function in London. Mark spoke to his parents on the phone later that evening and everything appeared normal."

He is thought to have left home between 11am and late afternoon the next day, taking the car and a small amount of cash.

Last week his father, Christopher Shaw, made an emotional appeal, through the Argus, for his son to return home.

He said: "He is a gentle, loving son, very caring. He has never done anything like this before."

The former Monmouth Comprehensive School pupil is described as "distinctive", white, 6'1" tall, slim and with short wavy red hair. He is clean-shaven, has brown eyes and wears small, round, black-rimmed glasses.

At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a black fleece, grey corduroy trousers and navy canvas shoes.
