PEOPLE took a break from shopping to watch as the Easter message took to Gwent's streetson Friday.
In Abergavenny, scenes from a passion play were acted out at various locations in the town while the annual Easter march was held in Newport city centre.
Organised by the Abergavenny Council of Churches, the play began with the Last Supper at the war memorial before moving to the "garden of Gethsemane" in Baker Street.
Other important parts of the story were told in other parts of the town before the climax - the crucifixion - in Red Square.
This was followed by a united service at Abergavenny Baptist Church.
In Newport, the Kings Church held its annual Easter March from the Kings Hotel in High Street to John Frost Square where a service was held. Kristin Clements, events and outreach co-ordinator for the city centre church, said the procession had been held for a number of years.
"Members of the church take part and sometimes people from other churches join in. It just brings the real meaning of Easter to the population."
