A JURY cleared a driving instructor yesterday of allegations that he behaved indecently with a number of women.
Alan McLoy, 57, of Penallt Estate, Llanelly Hill, Abergavenny, was unanimously found not guilty of 13 charges of indecent assault involving six women and not guilty of sexually assaulting two of them.
McLoy, a man with no previous convictions, said: "I treated everyone with respect.
"I am friendly. I am amazed at what has been said." The allegations had come to light as a result of a complaint made by one of the women at the end of June.
Two further complaints were made and later McLoy's diaries were examined and others came forward.
McLoy told the jury he qualified after studying for two years and because he was thorough had a 78 per cent pass rate.
"I am different, I do it right and I've got patience," he said. He denied ever touching any of the women indecently or making remarks with sexual double meanings.
"I never tried it on with anyone and I didn't touch up any girl," he told the jury at Cardiff crown court.
"At the end of the day it was my reputation. "I am well known in the area."
Some of the girls, he claimed, "put their heads together to tell lies."
