POLICE are investigating an incident of criminal damage at a Newport pub where a man was found fatally injured last week.

Feelings were running high in Pill yesterday, and a poster carrying a threat to burn down Harvey's bar if it re-opened was placed outside. Windows were also smashed.

Local man Lemy Bullock, 36, was found there with stab wounds on March 15. A Gwent Police spokeswoman said the poster had been removed and was being forensically examined.

She said: "The pub has been boarded up and there are no immediate plans for re-opening."

Inspector Daniel Taylor said: "We would urge people to use law-abiding channels of communication, and if any person has any issues regarding the licensing policy, they should contact the council or senior management team at Newport Central police station."

Gwent Police said they wanted to reassure people that additional patrols were taking place in Pill.

A third man from the Newport area was due to appear in the city's magistrates court today charged with the murder of Pill father of three Mr Bullock.

Earlier this week two other Newport men were brought before the city's magistrates court charged with his murder.

Martin Bruce, aged 38, of Courtybella Gardens, and 43-year-old Mohammed bin Hammod Nasser, of Pill, were also accused of burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm. They were remanded in custody and are next due to appear at the crown court on April 1.
