THE murder investigation moved to the banks of the River Usk this morning when firefighters retrieved a sword from the mud.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire Service said they were called by the police just before 10am to assist with the recovery of evidence at the rear of Castle Bingo under the George Street Bridge.
Firefighters took to the river in the rescue boat from Maindee fire station and retrieved an item from the mud flats. The operation was over just before 11am. A spokeswoman for Gwent Police confirmed they recovered a sword at the scene.
