A NEWPORT-BASED facilities management company has won a six-figure cleaning, security and waste management contract at Cardiff"s Capitol Shopping Centre.
Pedus, which is based in Adelaide Street, will start work on the 12-month contract in April.
The company is the UK branch of German contractor P Dussmann Group. A spokesman said that while the firm had considerable experience of shopping centre security, cleaning and waste management, this was their first contract to integrate all three services.
Jeff Wilson, centre manager for Capitol Properties Cardiff, said the contract had been won by Pedus against stiff competition because of the firm"s ability to guarantee staff numbers and source locally.
He said: "The firm was positive in coming up with one solution for the whole centre and I appreciated the management"s full, frank and honest approach."
Pedus regional director Steve Baker said: "It"s easy to make promises but we deliver, that"s our whole focus."
Under the contract, the Capitol Centre will have 24/7 security cover from an on-site control room plus mobile guards.
The centre boasts 160,000 sq ft of lettable space across 36 units.
