NEWPORT Gwent Dragons threequarter Hal Luscombe, pictured, is set to return to the Wales team for Sunday's Six Nations clash against Scot-land at Murrayfield.

Luscombe missed the France game because of a hamstring injury on top of a damaged thumb and a knee problem.

But he trained yesterday along with all three hookers Mefin Davies, Robin McBryde and Steve Jones, who have been carrying injuries.

Wales coach Mike Ruddock and his management team were waiting this morning to see if any of the players suffered a reaction to training before naming the side to take on the Scots.

Provided none suffered any ill effects Luscombe was expected to be brought back in on the right wing, where he had established himself in the side while Davies was set to retain his place at hooker after all.

He broke a bone in the tip of his right thumb against France and was unable to play last weekend, but his chances of making it for the continuation of Wales' Grand Slam bid rose considerably and he is now set to face the Scots with McBryde on the bench and Dragons hooker Jones missing out.

Luscombe's chances improved considerably when rival Rhys Williams was unable to train yesterday because of a calf strain.

But there was every chance he would be in the starting line-up anyway because Ruddock favours his abrasive approach down the right flank even if he is happiest in the centre. Dragons teammate Kevin Morgan is set to start in his favourite full back position for the first time since the World Cup 18 months ago.

Morgan is certain to step in for injured Wales captain Gareth Thomas, out for around two months with a badly broken thumb, moving from the wing position he has occupied recently both for the Dragons and Wales.

The only other selection issue is in the back row where Jonathan Thomas could threaten Ryan Jones at blind side flanker on a horses-for-courses basis where the rangy style of Thomas is rivalling the ball carrying ability of Jones.

Wales (probable): K Morgan, H Luscombe, T Shanklin, G Henson, S Williams, S Jones, D Peel, G Jenkins, M Davies, A Jones, B Cockbain, R Sidoli, R Jones, M Owen (captain), M Williams. Replacements: R Williams (or M Watkins or M Taylor), C Sweeney, M Phillips, J Yapp, R McBryde, J Thomas, R Sowden-Taylor. Kick off 3pm.
