THE X8 125cc is the new compact GT (Gran Turismo) scooter from Piaggio, offering independent and convenient travel about town with a winning combination of practicality and performance. Its unique extra-large under-seat storage space is capable of carrying even the heftiest sports kit to provide 'sporty' city commuters with a new lease of life on two wheels, allowing more time for the game, set and match.
The extraordinary under-seat space of the Piaggio X8 is ideal for sports lovers with capacity to hold two full-face helmets as well as a sports bag and sundry items up to 80cm in length such as a tennis racket. Practical handlebar switches provide dual access to this 56-litre capacity under-seat storage area through the car-type rear boot lid and tip-up seat. The loading lid is the only one of its kind in the category and is a feature of the X8 that takes its inspiration from car design.
The Piaggio X8 is also the only mid-sized GT with generous seating for rider and passenger, excellent aerodynamic protection and 'maxi' scooter load capacity. Designed with elegant, fluid lines and rounded edges, this model exudes comfort and practicality, and the body of the X8 provides first-rate rider protection, as proven in wind tunnel testing.
The windscreen is complemented by a low seat (just 790mm from the ground) which suits riders of any height. The seat is well padded with a built-in backrest, which can be adjusted to the rider's body, ensuring a comfortable ride. The large seat also has a foldaway seat cover, as well as a courtesy light.
The X8's wide front shield provides further storage space to store small items or documents within easy reach and is also equipped with a 12V plug to recharge a mobile phone. The Piaggio X8 will be available from Piaggio dealerships nationwide from February 2005 and will be priced at £2,599 on the road.
