A DISTRAUGHT couple are appealing for the return of a DVD of their baby son stolen by thieves from their Newport home.
Burglars struck at the Bassaleg home of Alan Browning and Trudy Kenward and their three children as they slept in the early hours of yesterday.
The family awoke to discover burglars had forced the french windows downstairs and stolen their Cannon MV3 video camera along with a mini DVD inside.
The footage includes the first steps taken by their 10-month-old son Toby George.
Mr Browning, 47, an account manager with the Principality Building Society, said: "We are devastated. We know the chances of getting the footage back are slim but we would like to appeal to the decency of whoever stole it from us to return it.
"Trudy is really upset. You can't recapture those moments. They are priceless memories."
The couple have two daughters, Katie, four, and Millie, two.
The burglars also made off with a purse containing 90 cash, a Cartier lady's watch and a diamond bangle.
"But the film is worth more than the all the rest put together," said Mr Browning.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said there had been a spate of "creeper burglaries" in the Bassaleg area where thieves had entered houses when the occupants were asleep.
Police are advising householders to lock all windows and doors.
