TORFAEN council has arranged a series of public consultation meetings into the proposed closure of three primary schools and the amalgamation of seven more. (All meetings start at 7pm unless stated):
February 28: Green Lawn Junior School (Amalgamation of Green Lawn and New Inn)
March 1: Griffithstown Junior School (Amalgamation of Griffi-thstown Infants and Juniors)
March 2: Pentwyn Primary School (Proposed closure)
March 3: Woodlands Junior School (Amalgamation of Woodlands Infants and Juniors)
March 15: Brookfield Primary School (Proposed closure)
March 17: Ponthir Primary School (Proposed closure)
March 19: County Hall (10am-noon) Mop-up meeting for all proposals.
March 21: Llantarnam Comp (Proposed closure of Brookfield, a cluster meeting)
March 22: Abersychan Comp (Proposed closure of Pentwyn)
March 23: County Hall, Cwmbran (Proposed closure of Ponthir)
There are a further series of consultation drop-in meetings being chaired by David Powell:
March 8: 10.30 - 11.30, Ponthir Village Hall, for those concerned with Ponthir VC Primary School
March 10: 10.30 - 11.30, Brynteg and Abersychan Community Hall for those concerned with Pentwyn Primary.
March 11: 11.00 - noon, Cwmbran Community Council for those concerned with Brookfield Primary School.
