WITH his hard-drinking and womanising ways, he was one of the original wild men of Hollywood.
Now it seems the spirit of silver screen legend Errol Flynn is alive and well with a look-a-like and namesake in Blaenavon.
He has left behind a trail of broken hearts and his mischief making is the stuff of legend yet the owners of 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier, Flynn, wouldn't change him for the world.
Rosemary Davies contacted the South Wales Argus after seeing our story in last Saturday's paper on pets that are named after famous people.
Mrs Davies and her husband Jeff decided to name their beloved pet dog Flynn after one of their favourite film stars and ever since it seems he has tried to live up to the name.
"He was born on Errol Flynn's birthday and that is where the name came from but as he has grown up, his personality has developed to match the film star," said Mrs Davies.
"He is a real character and a right womaniser.
"I think he would even drink like Errol, if he could manage it.
"The real Errol Flynn was gorgeous and my dog even looks like him as he has a black mark around his mouth which looks like a pencil moustache. If I was a lady dog then I think I could fall in love with Flynn!"
Just like the movie-star, Flynn has done his fair share of devilry. "When he was nine he ran into somebody's house and stole a hot chicken from the kitchen," said Mrs Davies.
"When I saw him I thought he had a football in his mouth.
"He wouldn't let me near him until he had finished eating it. Afterwards I had to carry him home because he was too full to walk.
"He also ran into a transit van and took a man's packed lunch and buried it while it was still in the box."
His notoriety has spread to the local bobbies who are all too aware of him and his mischievous nature.
Mr Davies said: "Everyone knows him in the town - even the police.
