You won't catch Newport County boss John Cornforth indulging in any fortune telling- he had plenty of that during his time at Exeter City.
This is a time of the season when managers are scrambling for the calculators in a bid to work out how many points they will need to survive.
But ahead of tomorrow's crucial Nationwide South clash at Carshalton (kick-off 3pm), Cornforth was keeping his crystal ball under wraps.
"When I was manager at Exeter we had Uri Gellar (the famous psychic) behind the scenes and that was enough for me," Cornforth joked. "Everyone can beat anyone in this league, so there is no point trying to work out what will be needed to stay up.
"You have to take each game as it comes. The only points targets I set are at the darts on a Thursday night! "It doesn't really help to look at the league table at this stage and if we can pick up points here and there, we might just find that we have got ourselves safe with room to spare."
He added: "That would allow me to experiment a bit for next season, but that is a long way off."
County make the journey east to face a side that robbed them 1-0 in Cornforth's first home league match last October but the manager is too pre-occupied with getting a win to harbour any notion of revenge.
"They did us in a bit of a smash and grab," he said. "But that game is history and it is the next game which is the most important.
"We have put in three good performances in our last three games but it is important that we match that with results.
"We are at a stage now where performances don't mean anything if we don't get good results."
Defender Lee Phillips is fit again but County will be without midfielder Ashley Williams, who is suspended, so Cornforth will call on Gethyn Jones.
"Gethyn has done very well for us," he said. "He is a cracking little player and has got better and better at using the ball.
"He is great at doing the simple things and it is the teams that can do that which tend to get results.
"Ashley is out and it is up to Gethyn to come in an show me that he wants to keep his place."
Cornforth will also have a look at the fitness of new arrival Chris Curran, who signed on a non-contract basis this week.
"Chris will train and I'll see if he is fit enough to be considered," Cornforth said. "He has been captain at every club he has played at and is a natural leader.
"He is a big talker and willing to fall out with his own players if need be and sometimes you need that on the pitch."
Squad: Delve, L Phillips, Morgan, Davies, D Jones, Thomas, G Jones, J Phillips, Moralee, O'Sullivan, Bowen, Mouncher, Morris, Evans, Hooper, Brimfield, Blackburn.
