SUSANNAH Spring and her brother Andr both love musical theatre but had always performed separately so when they decided to join forces they took the natural step - and formed their own company.
Now Gwent's newest musical society, The Company, is preparing to put on its first show at the Dolman Theatre in Newport next week in aid of the NSPCC.
Susannah, partner of track star Jamie Baulch, said: "We came up with the idea at the beginning of the year and held auditions in August. A lot of talent came from Cwmbran, Newport and Cardiff."
"It is going very well. There are 19 members (aged from 16 up) at the moment which is a great size," she said. "Everyone is so enthusiastic and we have such a good turnout each week."
Rehearsals for the show are being held twice a week at Llanyravon Social Centre, Cwmbran, and Mount Pleasant Hall, Pontnewydd.
The Company's first show is a revue, Magic of the Musicals, featuring songs from hit musicals such as South Pacific, Les Miserables, Fame and Godspell.
"There is something for everybody," promised the mum-of-two who is director of movement and choreography.
Magic of the Musicals can be seen at the Dolman Theatre, Newport, on February 3,4 and 5. Tickets from Newport Library, on 07968 945424, thecompanyonline@yahoo.co.uk and www.thecompanyonline.co.uk.
