Not Welsh news but, hopefully, readers will find the following information of use when planning their "golf watching" for the coming year.
The fourth staging of The Mobile Cup on the European Seniors Tour will be marked with a new venue this year, as the tournament moves to Collingtree Park Golf Club in Northamptonshire from June 17-19, 2005.
The tournament has quickly established itself as a favourite amongst the Seniors Tour players and has a reputation for producing exciting finishes, as was the case last year when Scotland's Bill Longmuir birdied three of the final four holes to pip Japan's Seiji Ebihara for the title.
Longmuir added his name to an impressive tournament Roll of Honour which features the inaugural champion from 2002, former Ryder Cup Captain Bernard Gallacher, and the 2003 winner Carl Mason, both of whom recorded their maiden Seniors Tour victories in the event.
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Seniors Tour, said:
"We look forward to the fourth year of this unique event, which brings the professionals and amateurs together in a manner which exemplifies the friendly nature of the European Seniors Tour. We are delighted to be returning to Collingtree Park and are grateful of the support of the Mobile Phone industry and the efforts of SweetSpot, our Promoter, in making the event a success."
Finally, one of the main objectives of The Mobile Cup is to unite the Mobile world in supporting relevant charities, which over the last three years has raised over £80,000 for Make-a-Wish and Get Connected. This amount is set to increase in 2005.
