New Years Day always sees the traditional drive-in for the captain at RAF St Athan Golf Club. This year was no different from any other.
A large crowd of club members turned up at the course to wish new Captain Robbie Ford all the best for the season. The weather was dry and fresh as Robbie received his Captain's tie from past captain Gwyn Favell and the traditional Captain's Blazer from Club President Paul Lyndsey.
He then proceeded to smash the ball down the centre of the fairway - a great start to the season.
After the drive-in members took part in the traditional Peewee Trophy competition between the Captain's and Club Secretary's sides - a match that always ends in an honourable draw - before retiring to the clubhouse for soup and rolls. Congratulations to Robbie Ford - and good luck in the coming year.
