A NEWPORT photographer is set to show the world's wedding capital just how it should record the happy moment.

Las Vegas has been the wedding venue choice of celebrities from Britney Spears to Joan Collins and even Elvis himself.

Now award-winning snapper Peter Ellis is to go to the neon city in March to give a masterclass at the International Conference of Wedding Photographers. More than 3,500 wedding photographers from across the globe are due to attend the event.

Mr Ellis, from Ridgeway, has 23 years of experience as a wedding photographer.

He said: "I've been to the conference before but it's the first time I've been asked to hold a masterclass.

"It's a real honour as it's a very prestigious event."

Mr Ellis' work has already received national acclaim with no less than six British Institute of Photographers regional awards.

He has also been invited to speak at the Federation of European Photographers conference in Rome later this year.

And his creative skills are in such demand that he regularly travels as far afield as New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and New York to capture couples tying the knot.

In February he will even travel to the Ice Palace Hotel in Lapland for a wedding with a twist.

He said: "I get a lot of enjoyment from my work. You have to love it or you just couldn't do it. I have great fun and get to meet lots of different and interesting people."

While in Vegas he says he may even try to capture one of the city's famous Elvis-themed drive-through nuptials.

He said: "I've never done a wedding in Vegas before - it could be something to add to the list."
